Weaam Sperinck

Weaam Sperinck is a 2009 Glasgow School of Art graduate with BA (Hons) in Design: Visual Communication. In the 2009 D&AD competition she was awarded with being published in their Annual for her educational animation "Birth of the Black Hole". In the same year she found herself one of the few semifinalists in the globally acclaimed ADOBE Achievement Awards in the Animation category for "Kakuarshuk" an Inuit folk tale.

Born to a Bahraini mother and an English father, Weaam was given great opportunities and the best of both worlds. It is clear to see that these two cultures have influenced her work greatly over the years. She enjoys exploring old forgotten crafts and tries her hand in them as much as possible. She's been known to use 19th century photography processes, 1000 year old shadow puppetry techniques and enjoys experimenting with each project.

Weaam also loves dressmaking and sourcing specialty fabrics. She is currently doing some fashion design work for a boutique in Bahrain, designing anything from evening dresses to abayas.
